2-YEAR OLD THOROUGHBRED FILLY
I have been treating a 2-year old thoroughbred filly that was injured on a gate. The main injury consisted of a large open wound on its right distal caudal rib area, with the underlying muscles having a deep penetrating tract. The wound was sutured but dehisced in about 8 days leaving a nine inch circular denuded area with an exudate draining from the muscle portion of the wound.
I had been frustrated because the wound was closing very slowly with the medications I had been using. I prescribed your First Aid Formula and Wound Care Formula in combination. The wound quickly formed a granulated base and reduced in size by approximately fifty to sixty percent in just two weeks. Also, my clinical impression is that the epithelialization along the leading dermal edge is progressing faster than I would expect for this kind of wound.
Thanks again and I will keep you posted.
