PRO ORTHOPEDIC DEVICES
THE LEADERS IN INNOVATIVE SPORTSMEDICINE PRODUCTS
As you know, we own six horses, all of which are
kept at the house. This afforded us an excellent opportunity to
watch the performance of your Shield & Sheen® fly
repellant.
Over the years we have tried virtually every fly
repellant we could find in an effort to discover a product that
could truly repel flies for a full day. We have not been successful
in the effort, that is, until we received your Shield & Sheen® spray.
We found your product repelled flies not just for a full day but
up to three full days from just one application. We were especially
amazed at how it worked on our Paint gelding, Jack. Jack has a
lot of white on his body and is constantly covered with flies.
A single application and he was fly free for two days. He was never
a big fan of sprays but he holds completely still when he sees
the Shield & Sheen® bottle come out.
Our young colt Nugget had a problem last year with fly bites, developing
welts all over his back and chest. Once we started applying the Shield & Sheen® the
welts disappeared.
Many of the products we tried in the past contained warnings due to harsh chemicals in the spray. With your spray we do not have to worry about that. We have even used it on our young dogs to keep flees and ticks off of them with great results.
In all my years around horses I have never seen a
product as effective as Shield & Sheen® in
repelling flies, ticks and mosquitoes. I will never use anything
else.

I have used the Shield & Sheen® stick
product for numerous situations. I am impressed by its consistent
ability to repel insects. I apply the product around the eyes and
over the ears of horses to form an invisible mask. It has been
especially useful with horses that want to tear off conventional
fly netting. The reapplication interval has been from 4 to 6 days.
The stick product has also been used as a topical wound treatment in many horses with nicks and scrapes that were too small to suture but were a concentration point for flies. Again, the reapplication rate has been 4 to 6 days and the wound seemed to heal at a faster rate. Another example of use was with on a dog whose ears were bleeding from fly bites. After the application, the dog was content and did not continually shake his head to fight the flies.
I also used the stick product in a particular horse that had a severe allergy to black flies and would develop puretic, edematous lesions on the underbelly. This product not only soothed the itch but also seemed to accelerate the dermal healing process. It was the first season this mare did not rub all the hair from her tail head.
It is impossible to snap radiographs when a horse
is fighting flies. I think the Shield & Sheen® is
the best spray that I have used for motion-free x-rays. Also, it
was interesting that many of the clients noticed Shield & Sheen® was
working from 24 to 48 hours later.
Shield & Sheen® spray
and stick are now part of the tools in my practice and I use them
virtually every day. Thanks for the wonderful and much need products.

I have been using the MedZone Vet® product samples
that you gave me. I find it amazing. My mare had a
wound on her hip that I had been treating for about a week with
slow results and still producing a little puss and, after 2 days
of using the First Aid Formula, it healed right
up. The Shield & Sheen® I
started using, as you suggested, as a fly deterrent when riding
and that stuff works great. I just rubbed it on my hands
and then rubbed it on her legs and face and ears, and the bugs
stayed off. We actually did a little experiment and brought
another horse into the barn who had lots of leg flies. We
put the Shield & Sheen® on her legs
and the flies departed. So, thanks for the samples. I'll
continue to use them and let you know how it goes. See you
soon.
